I have a passion for decorating, shopping flea markets, garage sales, and crafting. I have browsed and "creeped" many blogs and discover that I have something to share. So after weeks of trying to decide how to get a blog started I am finally here. I'm still learning about the technololgy part (not my strong suit)but I hope to post many pictures of my house before and after, my antique booth, and my ideas on decorating and crafting. I believe everyone deserves to live in a beautiful space and not break the budget to get it!! Looking forward to your feedback, talk to you soon.

The Help

Hi don't be shocked, I'm blogging for the second time in one week!!  My husband and I went to the movies the other night, yes in the middle of the week, (this empty nesting might be ok). :)  anyway we saw "The Help" it was a great movie with an awesome message but I couldn't help being distracted the whole time by the vintage decor shown in every scene.  I love that mid century period, maybe because I grew up in the sixties/seventies and my Mom never threw anything away: had the same stuff until 2000!! When I go to flea markets or garage sales I always look for these items.  After you collect a few similar things you should display them in your home like art.  I have a few examples of how to display your collectibles.

This is my bedroom.  I have a thing for old plates and have been collecting for years.  I especially like the plain white ironstone platters.  I wanted to hang them over my bed but didn't want the usual semetrical layout.  I played around with different layouts and this is what I came up with.  It's off centered and curls onto the side walls.  Different and I love it.

Here are vintage suitcases and a trunck that I had in my spare bedroom in a closet.  I decided to display them all stacked on each other for a bold statement. They also are great for storage.  I have one filled with all of Lindsey's dance shoes from 3 years old.  Another has gobs of pictures in it.  I love the look.

This is my sitting room off the kitchen.  I have many old hankies from my Moma and didn't want to keep them in a drawer.  I bought these frames at Wal mart for $2.  Easy as pie, the hard part is hanging them straight. :)  Oh that's Roxy my lab in the recliner, that's her chair.

I mentioned before that I love mirrors, here are a few of them in my entry hall.  I hung them all together to make an impact and to brighten the dark hall.  Now that I see this picture, I may have room for a couple more hmmm....time to shop!

Have a great weekend!!
