I have a passion for decorating, shopping flea markets, garage sales, and crafting. I have browsed and "creeped" many blogs and discover that I have something to share. So after weeks of trying to decide how to get a blog started I am finally here. I'm still learning about the technololgy part (not my strong suit)but I hope to post many pictures of my house before and after, my antique booth, and my ideas on decorating and crafting. I believe everyone deserves to live in a beautiful space and not break the budget to get it!! Looking forward to your feedback, talk to you soon.

More favorite things

I love decorating and repurposing discarded items.  I always wonder where this came from, who owned it, if these things could only talk!! Here a few pictures.

This is a bouquet of paper flowers that I made from old sewing patterns.. The paper is aged (some browner than others) the perfect color and they never die!!  The ironstone chamber pot is gorgeous, I wonder who this belonged to?  Glad that can't talk. :)

I found this old radio for $5 in Canton.  (just ignor Foghorn Leghorn) The radio works!!!! and is almost exactly the one my Moma had in our kitchen while I was growing up. It brings back so many memories just to turn it on and hear the static from AM radio.  If only I could find Camey Doucet on saturday mornings. :) My cajun peeps know what I'm talkin bout!!!

This old typewriter is the real deal.  It weighs a ton. This is when secretaries existed, not administrative assisstants!!  I love old office supplies, I always look for globes too.

I already have 5 old scales but in one trip to Canton I found these cool White ones for pennies.  The one to the right is really old with the numbers showing at the bottom.

I now have 3 chamber pots, too pretty for tinkling in. Tee Hee

For some reason this picture won't turn around!!  Is that bad luck?  It is still beautiful 1936 Bible

Beautiful biblical illustrations throughout.  Notice the water marks stained around the edges, maybe came out of a flood??  I wish I knew.

another vintage radio.  This one doesn't work but it's so cool.

Got to run, until next time.... Gwen

Barn wood update

Remember this beautifully aged falling down barn?

Well a short 3 months have passed and Joe has already built 2 gorgeous rustic farmhouse tables. This one is a 5ft rectangle with very old salvaged legs that I found in Fort Worth.

This is the first one he built.  The dark stained top and white distressed bottom is so fresh.  Happy to say that it sold quickly but we have so much wood that there will be many more to come!! I found the chair in someone's garbage at the road.  Of course I stopped and as I was getting it in my truck, the guy was bringing 2 more out!  I politely asked if I could have them and he helped me load them up. Tee Hee such a high to get free junk!!

Hard worker!!

You've come a long way baby!!
Stay tuned for more interesting old wood projects. Hint: benches, hutches, bookshelves oh my!!

Have a wonderful day!!
